QUINCY - The next TEC in Quincy - Great River TEC #249 - has been organized to provide a weekend experience that includes those who are hearing impaired. The TEC will be held Jan. 19-21.

Members of the Great River TEC community have occasionally had candidates who were hearing impaired, so they decided to plan and advertise a weekend with interpreters as part of the team, said Kyle Holtgrave, associate director for youth ministry in the Springfield diocese.

Currently, four interpreters are part of the team as well as two young adults who are trained in sign language to serve as table leaders. This weekend will have primarily hearing candidates, but the Great River TEC community hopes to have a table of hearing impaired candidates, Holtgrave said.

Application forms for this TEC weekend can be found at www.greatrivertec.org . Jerry and Anita Eberhardt will be serving as lay directors and Father Kurt Hartrich, OFM, will serve as spiritual director. For more information, contact Bonnie and Bob Nytes at (217) 223-7372.
