Sisters of the Son — Suzanne Moss, Madonna Jones and Sandy Begue — perform in concert at Woman at the Well/Called to be Disciples Looking for something to give as a hostess gift at Easter? A local Catholic singing group's new CD of contemporary Christian music might be the perfect answer.
If the reaction of people at the recent "Woman at the Well/Called to be Disciples" day in Springfield is any indication, the Sisters of the Son may just have a hit in its new self-titled CD.
Teachers, real estate agents, housewives, nurses, liturgical ministers, hospital administrators and many others in the Feb. 23 crowd of 250 at the Chiara Center were on their feet cheering, clapping, and even a few whistles were heard at the trio's concert, which closed the all-day spirituality day.
Madonna Jones, Suzanne Moss and Sandy Begue are the Sisters. They have performed together for 10 years, ever since Jones was choir director at St. Jude in Rochester and Moss and Begue were members of the St. Jude choir. Jones is now director of liturgy and music at St. Cabrini in Springfield, where Begue is a cantor. Moss is a cantor at Little Flower.
The 12 songs on their CD range from the spiritual Blessed Be Your Name, to the inspirational You Raise Me Up, to a rousing There is Power in the Blood, and an upbeat Deep Way Down Deep.
Accompanying the singers on the CD are the Brothers of Soul: Ron Wojcicki from St. Jude on keyboard/piano; John Kennedy, music director at St. Joseph, Chatham, on bass guitar; Bob Smith from Westside Christian Church on electric guitar; Dave Lazarides from St. John's Lutheran on acoustic guitar; and Joel Jones, Madonna's husband, from Rochester Methodist Church on drums/percussion.
