QU to offer study weekend with Father Bill Burton

Quincy University will offer a study weekend entitled "Jesus at the Table: The Meaning of the Meal," presented by Father Bill Burton, OFM, on Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18 at Our Lady of Angels Spirituality Center, 18th Street and Seminary Road. The study weekend begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening and ends after lunch on Sunday.

QUINCY - Quincy University will offer a study weekend entitled "Jesus at the Table: The Meaning of the Meal," presented by Father Bill Burton, OFM, on Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18 at Our Lady of Angels Spirituality Center, 18th Street and Seminary Road. The study weekend begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening and ends after lunch on Sunday.

During the weekend, participants will take a close look at the religious and cultural context of the New Testament in order to better understand the Gospel depictions of Jesus at table. The weekend schedule includes presentations, celebration of the Eucharist Saturday and Sunday, time for discussion, private prayer and reflection and meals.

Father Burton is a Franciscan priest, with a master's degree in divinity and a master's degree in theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. He received his licentiate in sacred Scripture (SSL) from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and a doctorate (STD) from the Pontifical Gregorian University, also in Rome. In 2002 he received his master's degree in higher education administration from Loyola University, Chicago. Father Burton has taught Biblical Studies at Quincy University and undergraduate courses at DePaul University in Chicago. He is a member of Society of Biblical Literature, the College Theology Society and the Catholic Biblical Association. He is a member of the board of trustees at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and on the board of the Catholic Coalition on Preaching.

Cost of the study weekend and all meals, but without overnight stay is $56 per person. Cost with meals and room for overnight Friday and Saturday is $85 per person, whether single or double occupancy of a room.
