SHUMWAY - Bible studies on St. Paul's teachings on the sacraments will be featured in a series of six sessions held at Annunciation Parish, in St. Mary Church basement in Shumway. Father Daren Zehnle, parochial vicar at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Effingham, will be the instructor.
The one-hour sessions begin at 7 p.m., starting Monday, Sept. 22 with the talk on baptism. Subsequent sessions will be: Wednesday, Oct. 15, on reconciliation; Monday, Oct. 27, on confirmation; Monday, Nov. 10, on Eucharist; Monday, Nov. 27, on holy orders, and Tuesday, Dec. 9, on marriage.
The sessions have been planned in observance of the Year of Saint Paul proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI to mark the 2,000th anniversary of the birth of the "Apostle to the Gentiles."
"Leaders of other churches and ecclesial communities have joined the Holy Father in proclaiming this year to honor St. Paul and to give thanks to God for his witness and teaching," said Father Zehnle.
The sessions are open to everyone. For more information, contact Father Zehnle at (217) 347-7129.
