DECATUR - A community-wide "Mass on the Grass" at St. Teresa High School Athletic Field, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, will conclude the week-long St. Teresa Homecoming 2009 activities. The Mass celebrant will be Father David Peters, (STHS 1950). Students, alumni and school supporters are encouraged to attend.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, a one-mile Walk/5K Fun Run was to begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. on the south side of the St. Teresa gym parking lot.
Both the Mass on the Grass and the Walk/5K Fun Run are new events at St. Teresa this year.
"The thought process behind it is creating events that alumni can come back and get involved in that are connected to the school," Kassie Landry, St. Teresa director of advancement, said. "It creates Catholic awareness in our community, and is a great opportunity to come together and celebrate."
The Mass will be celebrated come rain or come shine, Landry says, but it will be moved inside at the school if it is raining.
