Members of all parishes participating in the Why Catholic? program are invited to attend an enrichment and spiritual formation program on "Christ's Presence in the Eucharist: A Eucharistic Spirituality for Today."

Sister Kathleen "Kass" Collins, SFCC, will be the presenter. Topics will include: ways Christ makes himself present to us at Mass; how the Eucharist helps us to understand the pain and joy of everyday life; and how celebrating the Eucharist strengthens our Catholic identity.

Sessions will be offered at various times and locations around the diocese, including:

  • Sunday, Nov. 30, at Holy Family, Litchfield, at 1-3:30 p.m. or 5:30-8 p.m.;

  • Monday, Dec. 1, at St. Agnes, Springfield, at 12:30-3 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.;

  • Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. Thomas, Decatur, at 12:30-3 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.;

  • Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Blessed Sacrament, Quincy, at 12:30-3 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.;

  • Thursday, Dec. 4, at St. Francis, Teutopolis, at 12:30-3 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.;

  • Friday, Dec. 5, at St. Jerome, Troy, at 12:30-3 p.m. or 6:30-9 p.m.;

  • Saturday, Dec. 6, at Holy Angels, Wood River, at 9-11:30 a.m. or 1-3:30 p.m.;

  • Sunday, Dec. 7, at St. Frances Cabrini, Springfield, at 4-8 p.m. (includes Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, light supper and presentation).

Participants do not have to be in a Why Catholic? group in order to register. Interested persons should register through parish Why Catholic? coordinators.

Why Catholic? is a adult faith formation process centered around the evangelizing mission of Jesus. It is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and supported by leader formation, retreats, faith enrichment sessions, rich resources, and ongoing pastoral support.

Why Catholic? encourages and enables parishioners to become evangelizing Catholics by offering a concrete approach to help adults form their Catholic faith and connect its teachings to their everyday lives.
