EDWARDSVILLE - St. Boniface Parish will sponsor a parish mission Jan. 11-15, 2009, beginning at 6:45 p.m. each evening and lasting about an hour. The church is located at 110 N. Buchanan St.

The parish mission will consist of five consecutive evenings of prayer, reflection and song, with the theme of "Renew-Reflect-Rejoice." The mission will be led by Father Jose Arturo and Father Gan Nguyen, part of the Redemptorist preaching team. They will invite participants into a deeper relationship with the Lord, with a focus on the sacraments. On Sunday the topic will be baptism; on Monday, confirmation; on Tuesday, reconciliation; on Wednesday, vocation; and on Thursday, the Eucharist.

Father Arturo was born in Mexico and was ordained in 1995. He has preached parish missions in several states and was most recently the pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption of Whittier, Calif. Father Nguyen was born in Vietnam, raised in Biloxi, Miss., and was ordained in 1998. After ordination Father Nguyen worked as a parish priest, retreat master, and youth and young adult director.

All are welcome to attend the mission. Child care will be available for young children, though children in third grade or above will be encouraged to attend with their families. For those unable to attend in the evening, morning sessions will also be available on Monday through Wednesday, Jan. 12 through 14, beginning at 8:45 a.m. There will be refreshments and time for fellowship after all services.
