dl-chalice.jpgdl-chalice.jpg HIGHLAND - A chalice has been donated for the chapel of the planned Father McGivney Catholic High School by the family of a deceased member, Grand Knight and 4th Degree member of the Highland Council Knights of Columbus.

After Walter Luber died in February 2008, the Highland K. of C. Council presented the family with a gold chalice in his honor. Father Charles Edwards, pastor at St. Paul, suggested donating the chalice to the new high school for use in the school chapel. The Lubers said they thought this was a wonderful idea since the high school is being named for the founder of the Knights of Columbus and Luber was a loyal member of the Knights, in addition to being such an advocate of Catholic education.

The family, supported by local Knights, made the presentation at the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Paul on Dec. 28.

Father McGivney Catholic High School is scheduled to open in the fall of 2011 with two classes - freshmen and sophomores (the classes of 2014 and 2015,  students currently in sixth and seventh grades). The school will add a class in each of the following two years to have all four classes by fall 2013. The high school will serve families in southern Madison County and beyond.
