QUINCY - Quincy University senior Tara Austin has been named winner of QU's student competition to design a logo for the Franciscan university's 150th anniversary celebration. Austin, a graphic design major from Fenton, Mo., was awarded a $500 scholarship at a ceremony held Feb. 5 in the Gray Gallery in Brenner Library.
Last fall, QU launched the student competition for a logo design that reflects the Franciscan, liberal arts values and principles embodied by the University. The logo will be used in all facets - from Web to print - during the year-long anniversary.
"This anniversary is not only about celebrating 150 years of the university, but also showcasing the talents of our students, both past and present," said David Schachtsiek, senior vice president for academic and student affairs and chair of the 150th anniversary planning committee. "Choosing between so many fine entries was no easy task for the committee. All of the submissions reflect the many unique qualities of Quincy University, and show off the talent we have not only in our fine arts department, but across all disciplines."
