Several Springfield-area Catholic school students received first place awards in the Springfield Catholic Art Showcase sponsored by the Springfield College-Benedictine University Art Department.

Each of the Catholic grade schools in Springfield — Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral, Christ the King, Little Flower, St. Agnes, St. Aloysius, St. Joseph, and St. Patrick — submitted artwork from students to be judged. Judges’ Choice Awards went to first place awardees: Paul Greiser, Christ the King; and Autumn Dunn and Alli Taylor, Little Flower.

Additional first-place ribbons were awarded to: Laura Brenneisen St. Agnes; Kate Norris and Drake Reents, Christ the King; Patrick Rearden, Blessed Sacrament; Cody Townsell, St. Aloysius; Bethany Hays, Sophie Mounce and Alyssa Guinan, St. Joseph.

An awards ceremony and reception for the artists and their families will be held at 4:30 p.m., April 2, in the Becker Library Presidents’ Room on the Springfield College-Benedictine University campus.
