The 110th anniversary of Knights of Columbus Springfield Council 364 was celebrated at a banquet dinner March 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2200 Meadowbrook Road.
Paul Palazzolo, Sangamon County auditor and a member of the council, was the principal speaker. Past Grand Knight John Ray, chairman of the event, was master of ceremonies.
Forty men who have been members of Council 364 for 50 years or more were honored by presentation of certificates and gold-plated lapel pins. Silver pins along with certificates were given to more than 90 men who have been members for 25 years or longer.
In addition, a proclamation issued by Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin’s office named March 19, 2009, Knights of Columbus Council 364 Day in the City of Springfield.
Council 364 was founded March 19, 1899, at an induction ceremony held at the Odd Fellows Temple, then located at the corner of Fourth and Monroe streets.
