frank.jpgNOKOMIS — St. Louis Parish is hosting a performance of Sermon on the Mount and a presentation called Hollywood vs. Faith by film and radio personality Frank Runyeon on Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. The performance will take place at the parish church, 311 S. Elm St. in Nokomis.
Runyeon received his bachelor’s degree in religion from Princeton and studied at Fuller and Yale before receiving his master’s with honors from General Theological Seminary. For years, he has performed Biblical texts for audiences in every state in America. He is also known as a television actor, having starred opposite Meg Ryan on As the World Turns, won two Emmies as a cast member of Santa Barbara, and guest starred on Falcon Crest, Another World, Melrose Place, and LA LAW.
In his production, Runyeon moves around the church, retelling the Sermon with drama and even some humor. He relates the story through the apostle Matthew to the church in Antioch, shortly after the Roman army has burned Jerusalem to the ground.
The Sermon performance is followed by a half hour presentation in which Runyeon discusses, with humor, the very different values the media are teaching us, and the choices we face daily as Americans and people of faith.
Following the program, Runyeon will be available for autographs at a reception in the St. Louis parish center. A free-will offering will be taken. For more information call Debbie Miller at (217) 563-7146.
