Approximately 200 cantors, choir members, lectors and ushers from the Springfield parishes of Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral, Christ the King and St. Agnes were honored by Knights of Columbus Council #364 in Springfield with an appreciation dinner on Sunday, April 26. Participants at the free dinner also received certificates of recognition as part of the activities.

Grand Knight Gene Mitchell commended the volunteers for their efforts. Deacon Dave Erdmann of Blessed Sacrament Parish, the council's chaplain, spoke about the virtues of volunteerism in the church and the great support to the pastor and the overall parish family that volunteers provide.

Council #364 periodically recognizes those who provide service to their parishes. A similar event was held last year for those who served as extraordinary ministers of holy Communion for the same group of parishes. The council plans to recognize other groups in the future.
