Totus Tuus (translation: Totally Yours) wrapped up its final week (July 22-26) of Catholic summer parish missions geared for youth in first through 12th grades.

A group of 48 students from Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield, a 2013 graduate, campus ministers Sister Linda Mary DeLonais, OP, and Phil Seck and 10 adult chaperones from the Springfield area spent a week in June in Steubenville, Ohio on JOSHUA (Journeys of Service Helping Upper Appalachia).

The Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women presented its second annual Our Lady of Good Counsel Women of Distinction Awards on Saturday, June 8, during a Mass celebrated by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.

Overcast sky and predictions of even more rain on the horizon made for a slightly smaller turnout than usual at the annual Memorial Day Mass celebrated by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield on May 27. Still, over 225 people, including some families with multi-generation members or small children turned out.

Michael D. Bromberg is the new president of the Benedictine University Springfield branch campus, according to a May 13 announcement by the Benedictine board of trustees. Bromberg has served as dean of Academic Affairs at the Benedictine Springfield branch since July 2007, and as the school's chief executive officer since 2012. Bromberg reports to William J. Carroll, president of Benedictine University.

MUNDELEIN — Transitional Deacon Hyland Smith will be ordained a priest by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki on Saturday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield.

ALTON — Marquette Catholic High School is moving forward with its 2013 Capital Campaign to ensure the "high quality Marquette experience continues for years to come," Marquette principal Mike Slaughter said on April 8 to people gathered with Bishop Thomas John Paprocki at a blessing of the school's new construction projects.

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki celebrated Mass for the newly elected Pope Francis, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, at 12:05 p.m., on Thursday, March 14. Some 250 people attended the service, including students from Cathedral School.

ROBINSON — Proceeds from a Mardi Gras silent auction held by St. Elizabeth Parish, Robinson, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Oblong, were given to the First United Methodist Church in Robinson, which was severely damaged in a fire on Christmas night. A check for $9,160 was presented to the Rev. Tiffany Black, pastor of First United Methodist, during a fellowship dinner for members of the three churches on Feb. 20.
