She was born on March 3, 1927 in Tipton, Mo., the daughter of Aloysius Andrew and Anna Jane (Fischer) Schmidt. Sister M. Agnes was a teacher and graduated from St. Louis University College. She taught in many schools in St. Louis, Illinois and Shreve Port, La. In the
Springfield diocese, she taught at St. Mary in Brussels, St. Mark in Venice, St. Mary in Madison, Ss. Mary and Mark in Madison and St. Elizabeth in Granite City.
She is survived by four brothers, Arthur Schmidt of Kansas City, Mo., Norbert Schmidt of Raytown, Mo., Father Edwin Schmidt of Jefferson City, Mo., and David Schmidt of Des Moines, Iowa; and a sister, Mary Schmidt of Alton.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Ruth, Jimmy, Margaret and Harold Schmidt.
The Mass of Christian Burial was May 30 at St. Mary Church in Alton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to the Divine Providence Retirement Fund. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, Godfrey, was in charge of arrangements.
