She was born in Chicago to the late John Henry and Margaret Jane Casey Devine. She is predeceased by her brothers and is survived by her sister Loretta Turnbull of Illinois, and five nephews and two nieces.

Sister Margaret Lorraine trained to be a teacher and taught elementary grades. Before her teaching career began, she was in ancillary services, admission and the business office at Our Saviour's Hospital, Jacksonville, in 1949. She retired to St. Mary's Convent in 2005 and was active in the ministry of prayer until her death.
