MADISON — Father Victor Alan Barnhart, 55, a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, died Sept. 16, in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 30, 1956, in Granite City, the son of Robert Lee and Rita J. Penrod Barnhart. He attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville for six years, and for three years was a computer programmer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. In 1990, he was ordained for the priesthood. His last assignment was as pastor of St. Andrew Parish in Lemay, Mo., where he was in charge of the archdiocesan deaf ministry.
He is survived by his parents, residents of Madison; a sister, Christy Barnhart, also of Madison; uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were held Sept. 21 at St. Mary Church in Madison. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made in the form of Masses to the Deaf Ministry, St. Andrew Parish, Lemay, Mo.; or to St. Mary's Roof Fund in Madison.
