MILWAUKEE — School Sister of St. Francis Marilyn Wolfram, who lived her religious vocation as a musician and educator for 50 years, died Jan. 3 at Ruth Hospice. Sister Marilyn was 83.
The daughter of William and Loretta Wolfram, she was born in Illinois March 4, 1929, in Apple River, She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1954; made her first profession of vows June 21, 1956; and final (perpetual) vows June 18, 1962.
Sister Marilyn is survived by her sister-in-law Donna Wolfram; brother-in-law Clyde Blair; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and the School Sisters of St. Francis with whom she shared life for 56 years.
Beginning in 1957, Sister Marilyn ministered in Illinois and Wisconsin. In the Springfield diocese, she served as teacher and organist at St. Margaret Mary School in Granite City (1965-1986). She retired in 2007 and served in the ministry of prayer and presence in Elmwood Park (2007-2012) and at Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee until her death.
A wake and funeral liturgy were held Jan. 8 at St. Joseph Convent, Milwaukee, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
