Born in Vienna, Mo., Sister Agnella was the first of four children, three girls and one boy. Her parents, George and Christina (Luecke) were members of Visitation Parish in Vienna, Mo. Sister Agnella made first vows on July 1, 1943 and final vows July 1, 1948. She was 88 years old and had been an Adorer of the Blood of Christ for 70 years.
Sister Agnella served the young in places such as the Catholic Children’s Home and the Loretto Home, both in Alton, and St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis. Her care also extended to the elderly at Clementine Residence in Red Bud and the Ruma Center in Ruma. Her only service in a small community house was at St. Andrew Convent in Murphysboro. She retired to the Ruma Center in 1999.
Sister Agnella is survived by her sisters Theresa Muenks and Anna Kever; her sister-in-law Nina Stratman; nieces and nephews; and members of the ASC community. Preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, George Stratman; and her brother-in-law, James Kever.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 12 at the Ruma Center, with Father Dan Jurek officiating. Sister Barbara Hudock, ASC, regional leader, offered the reflection. Burial was in the community cemetery.
