Sister M. Agnes McDougall, OSF, of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on April 6 at St. Francis Convent in Springfield. She was 82.
Sister Agnes was born in Indianapolis on Feb. 26, 1933, the daughter of John and Agnes Cooper McDougall. She entered the congregation on Sept. 12, 1951 and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1954.
A graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Sister Agnes later earned a bachelor's of science degree in nursing from Marillac College in Normandy, Mo., and a master's of science in nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit. She served as a nurse in various hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition, she served as a nursing instructor, assistant director and director of St. John's School of Nursing, Springfield and as a nursing instructor at State Community College, East St. Louis; Richland Community College, Decatur; and Kaskaskia College, Centralia. She also served in several offices of the Illinois Department of Registration and Education.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John H. McDougall.
Sister Agnes is survived by one sister, Margaret Cravens of Hazelwood, Mo., and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for almost 64 years.
The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father John Sullivan, OFM, on April 8 at St. Francis of Assisi Church at St. Francis Convent. Burial was in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery.
Staab Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
