Merry Christmas to all the young artists who shared their talents in the third annual Catholic Times Christmas cover contest. This year, a record 765 entries were submitted to compete for the honor of being the Christmas cover of our diocesan newspaper.
Quincy University ends the fall semester just as Robert Gervasi is introduced as its next president. Gervasi, 57, will officially assume office in June 2008 as the 22nd president of the liberal arts college. Married and the father of three, Gervasi is the first lay person to head the university, which was founded in 1860 by Franciscan friars from Germany.
In Springfield, one man's devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary has made a world of difference in thousands of lives. It was just over 20 years ago when Dr. David Mack returned from a visit to Medjugorje, where he had purchased a number of traditional Catholic books. Although he had hoped to donate the books to a store in Springfield, that place wasn't interested in receiving them. That's when the orthopedic surgeon made the decision to open his own store.
